Stephanie has been teaching voice and piano for over 10 years and loves to pass her knowledge and love of music on to others.
Teaching Older Students
For teenage, college, adult, or professional voice students a great deal of time is spent on establishing a solid vocal technique. Singers should be able to sing their best in the most healthy way possible that will insure longevity of the voice. A great deal of time is spent on learning how to expand the range, move the voice with agility, cross registers, and get a students best sound possible. Goals are also highly desirable as it gives students something to work toward and Stephanie highly encourages her students to audition, perform and compete as much as they are comfortable and has seen many students achieve great success on stage, achieving admittance to competitive colleges and music programs, and obtain financial scholarships in music.
Teaching Younger Students
Stephanie loves to teach both voice and piano and is very passionate about helping her students reach their full potential and meeting specific goals. She will teach students as young as five on an individual basis. When teaching younger students piano, Stephanie tries focus on her students enjoying their lessons, developing a love of music, and meeting small attainable goals. Weekly practice is essential for young piano students and parents are often encouraged to observe lessons and help their children with practice at home. When teaching younger students voice, Stephanie spends a large amount of time working on aural skills which are more receptive in young children then any other time in life. She also teaches students how to read music and focuses time each week in learning how to sight sing. Stephanie prioritizes producing well rounded musicians who can excel in any musical situation as well as producing singers who can singer their best.
She has taught a variety of students ranging from college students, professionals in the industry, young children, and those who just want to enjoy music more. Stephanie received a Masters degree with honors in vocal performance from Cal State, Northridge after completing her Bachelors degree from The Masters College. She has recently appeared as Miss Silverpeal in The Impressario, Nekaya, in Utopia Limited and operatic productions including Tosca, Don Giovanni, The Merry Wives of Windsor, and Amahl and the Night Visitors. She has performed in musical theater as Cinderella in Cinderella the Panto, Lady Larkin in Once Upon a Mattress, Gingy in Shrek, Gertrude McFuzz in Suessical, Judy Haynes in White Christmas, Miss Dorothy in Thoroughly Modern Millie, Ethel in The Music Man and many more. Stephanie has also enjoyed the privilege to be the co-director of The Songs of Summer program at The Masters College and served as conductor of The Masters College High School Choir. Stephanie also directs children’s’ musical theater camps at The Canyon theater Guild and has worked as vocal director of several of their main stage productions.
Goals. My first and foremost goal for my students is that they have fun and develop a deep love and appreciation of music. Second to that is how much or how fast they progress. If the students are not enjoying themselves it is very unlikely they will stay with lessons very long or progress much. My most important studio policy is for myself that I am doing my best to provide the most enjoyable, beneficial, and efficient lessons that I can. For this reason I am constantly studying musical myself, researching, reading, performing, adjudicating and just studying as much as I can. I take this very seriously and I love what I do!
Cancellation. Your lesson payment serves to reserve a time slot in my schedule so if you are missing a lesson for any reason other than an emergency/audition/illness you need to give me 24 hours notice. If you give me enough notification I have the ability to schedule another student in your time slot so please let me know as soon as you can if you will be missing. If you give me 24 hour notice or have an emergency you have two weeks to schedule a makeup lesson at my discretion. If for some reason I miss a lesson you will be given a makeup lesson with no time limit.
Make up lessons. If you miss a lesson you have two weeks to schedule a makeup lesson at my discretion. I will do my best to work with you. If I miss a lesson you will be given a makeup lesson with no time limit.
Teaching Materials. Students need to remember to bring their materials to every class. For piano students this means your books and for voice students, you need to bring the music you are working on. If you do not remember your materials it is very difficult for me to scramble to pull together an effective lesson. If you forget your music I may decide it best to cancel your lesson and you will still be charged.
Pricing. Students will be charged a registration fee of $25 every January. Monthly rates are $140 per half hour and $240 per hour. Payment is due at the first lesson of the month in the form of cash or check. If you forget to pay at the first lesson you need to pay me through paypal before the second lesson. If you will be missing more than three weeks in a row you will need to pay a weekly $10 fee to hold your time slot. Otherwise it will be given to a different student.
Other Fees. Some student will require books which I will purchase and the student will be expected to reimburse me for. This saves the student the hassle of trying to find the book and hoping that they got the right one. I will always let you know before I purchase a book for you to be sure you are alright with the price. I charge a yearly registration fee which is due in January.
Practice. Daily practice is vital to the success of each student. Practicing is required at least 6 times per week. Failure to do so will result in the student not advancing at a desired rate as well as a waste of money for you. Practicing ensures you get the most for your money and makes lessons more fun and profitable.
Contact Information. It is very important that I have accurate contact information for all of my students so if your information ever changes please notify as soon as possible.
